My daughter’s high school recently had an open house, so I decided to visit the Graphic Communications Lab after meeting her teachers. She is not currently enrolled in the class, but my passion for print and curiosity got the best of me. I was pleasantly surprised to see the number of computers installed with the latest Adobe suite of products like Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Offset printing and screen printing were also available to students, but the number of digital assets outnumbered conventional assets by a wide margin. One parent was so impressed with the impromptu presentation that she asked if she could take the class!
On the drive home I reflected on my time in high school (which wasn’t that long ago, I might add) when I took “printing.” Comparing the tools and techniques used then to what the students are using now pales in comparison. The changes in technology and print techniques at Nosco are also changing rapidly with the addition of offset carton cold foiling, digital invisible ink serialization and now, digital flexible packaging – just to name a few.
All of these technologies (plus a few others) were added over the past twelve months to better serve our customers… but providing innovative packaging solutions can be challenging. To adopt and drive these rapid changes into our business has required our teams to work and think differently throughout.
As reported in our previous newsletter, Nosco’s solutions engineering innovation teams are putting a focus on innovation – dedicating time and resources each week to develop packaging utilizing our latest print technologies. In fact, this year, Nosco’s solutions engineering team, as well as members from the prepress and marketing teams, competed in several rounds of a packaging challenges. Each team, with dedicated time and resources, focused on breakthrough concepts and ideas that will be brought to market in the months to come.
We also recently launched the Brand Enhancement Team – a group made up of artists, engineers, prepress technicians and marketers that work collaboratively to innovate for customers like you. The team is unique to the industry, offering to help clients leverage the best print technologies to achieve their marketing objectives with a creative flair.
Other teams at Nosco are innovating to make our business better too. These efforts range from employee video training and career development platforms to automation for client services and manufacturing teams.
We are also excited to share that we are currently testing several CR solutions for the healthcare industry, including:
- Reusable Flexible Pouches in Multiple Sizes
- One-Time-Use Sachets in Multiple Sizes
- Reusable Cartons in Multiple Sizes
These products will be compliant with CFR – Title 16, Part 1700 Standards, and will be released in three-phases throughout 2020!
With all of these transformations at Nosco we are striving to develop a culture of innovation to keep pace. The next time you have a discussion with one of our Packaging Advisors please ask them, “what new innovations can Nosco develop for me?” ◊
