Digital Label Platform Expanded with Addition of HP Indigo V12

Nearly 20 years ago, in 2005, Nosco began its journey into digital label production with HP Indigo. This early adoption laid the foundation for Nosco’s overall digital expansion efforts, which now serve over 250 pharmaceutical and natural health customers with cartons, labels and flexible packaging.

Nosco has long served on the HP Advisory Board, playing a crucial role in the development and direction of digital print technology for printed packaging. It is for this reason that we were thrilled when the journey began six years ago to develop a next-generation machine that would run faster, increase productivity and handle even more digital colors. The journey has now reached commercialization and regular production with the rollout of the HP Indigo V12 digital press.

On April 22, 2024, Nosco began installing the HP Indigo V12 at its Wisconsin-based Packaging Innovation Center (PIC). This state-of-the-art machine runs four times faster than current models, operating at an impressive 400 feet per minute. It combines exceptional print quality with unparalleled speed, matching the capabilities of traditional flexographic equipment. Additionally,  the V12 handles print runs with four-color process (4CP), white or extended gamut to ensure digital quality that is offset or photo-like in nature.

The first commercial runs on the HP Indigo V12 took place on June 11, 2024, with QuVa, DPT and Nature’s Way at the PIC to participate in three inaugural print runs. Each run was supported by vision inspection and color-matching software to provide outstanding digital quality and ensure:

  • 100% specification compliance
  • Complaint-free printed packaging
  • 98% of colors printed within 3 delta E

The V12 positions Nosco to meet growing customer demands more efficiently – handling 90% of all label jobs in the healthcare space. This strategic investment solidifies Nosco’s leadership in digital print, advancing its capabilities to align with the needs of brands across various regulated industries.
