Nosco is excited to announce the operational launch of its new Tamarack RFID Modular Versa-Web at the Packaging Innovation Center. This new asset began its journey with the first live job on May 16, 2024, showcasing its remarkable efficiency by completing the job in just a few hours – a significant upgrade from the previous RFID machine. The new Tamarack is up to 16 times more productive, offering increased speeds and multiple lane capabilities.

This state-of-the-art machine replaces Nosco’s existing RFID technology, which has been in service for nearly 20 years, and is fully equipped to meet the 2024 RFID labeling requirements for major brands like Sam’s Club and Walmart. The Tamarack applies ultra high frequency (UHF) wet RFID inlays to pressure-sensitive labels, enhancing product quality and traceability throughout the supply chain. Equipped with downstream Voyantic UHF readers, the Tamarack ensures that all outgoing labels have reading and writing functionality.

Key capabilities of the new Tamarack include:

  • Support for inlay sizes down to 3/8"
  • Speeds over 300 feet per minute (FPM)
  • Enhanced registration capabilities

Randy Wright, Digital Label Value Stream Manager, and Chris Dwyer, CAD and Technical Label Manager, highlighted the benefits of the new Tamarack: “Adding the Tamarack to our label assets at the Packaging Innovation Center is fantastic. Our customers will enjoy better quality and improved tolerances through this new machine. Not only can we speed up our lead times, but Nosco also benefits from operator-friendly asset features and reliable local support for parts and service.”

Nosco has a longstanding history with RFID, enhancing patient safety and ensuring product security with RFID-enabled tags and labels. The new Tamarack RFID asset allows for more operational efficiencies, leading to competitive pricing and quicker order turns, making RFID-enabled packaging more accessible for our customers.

This strategic investment is another example of how Nosco continues to grow by providing packaging solutions that help save lives, promote health, and encourage happiness around the world.
